M10 Gun Motor Carriage
Modeling the U.S. Army in WWII

This M10 tank destroyer was photographed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds by Mike Bedard. The M10 had a three-inch gun and a .50 caliber machine gun. There were 54 rounds stowed for the gun, including six ready rounds in the duck bill rear of the turret. The open-topped vehicle could get up to 30 mph on level ground. It carried a crew of five.

The M10 is represented in plastic by kits from Academy, AFV Club, and a very old kit from Tamiya that has more in common with 1/32 scale. Both the Academy and AFV Club kits have their issues. Steve Zaloga's Modelling U.S. Army Tank Destroyers of World War II is a good reference for building these vehicles.
